How use File Manager to upload/edit/delete files

You can upload your files directly through cPanel using the File Manager. File Manager is a web interface that allows you to manage all files associated with your account.

This following video demonstrates some common tasks that can be accomplished with File Manager, including uploading, renaming and deleting files.

Note: There is a 500MB upload limit through File Manager. If you need to upload a larger file, please use FTP. 

To add files via File Manager

  1. Scroll down to the Files section. 
  2. Click the File Manager icon. 
  3. Click the Go button. File Manager will open in a new window or tab, depending on your browser. 
  4. Navigate to the directory you wish to upload a file too
  5. Click the Upload icon. 
  6. Drag & drop your files into the area on the screen, or click Browse to manually file and select the files you wish to upload. 
  7. Once status bar shows 100% complete, select Go back to "home/yourusername

To rename files via File Manager

  1. Scroll down to the Files section. 
  2. Click the File Manager icon. 
  3. Click the Go button. File Manager will open in a new window or tab, depending on your browser. 
  4. Navigate to the directory you wish to rename a file in
  5. Single click on the file you wish to rename. 
  6. Click Rename 
  7. Replace existing file name with your desired file name then select Rename File.

To delete files via File Manager

  1. Scroll down to the Files section. 
  2. Click the File Manager icon. 
  3. Click the Go button. File Manager will open in a new window or tab, depending on your browser. 
  4. Navigate to the directory you wish to delete a file from.
  5. Single click on the file you wish to delete. 
  6. Click Delete 
  7. A safety pop up will appear to ensure you do not accidentally delete the incorrect file. After ensuring you have the correct file, click Delete File(s).
